چکیده

The understanding of flavour dynamics is one of the key aims of elementary particle physics. The last 15 years have witnessed the triumph of the Kobayashi-Maskawa mechanism, which describes all flavour changing transitions of quarks in the Standard Model. This important milestone has been reached owing to a series of experiments, in particular to those operating at the so-called B factories, at the Tevatron, and now at the LHC. We briefly review status and perspectives of flavour physics, highlighting the results where the LHC has given the most significant contributions, notably including the recent observation of the B0 s → μ+μ− decay. Properties of Heavy Flavoured Hadrons at CDF

We present recent CDF results on the properties of hadrons containing heavy quarks. These include the measurements of mass, lifetime and relative cross section of the B c meson and an updated measurement of the B 0 s and Λ 0 b lifetime. We also summarize new measurements of the mass of the Σ b baryon.

Production of multiply heavy flavoured baryons from Quark Gluon Plasma in relativistic heavy ion collisions

It is argued that in heavy ion collisions at LHC there could be a sizeable production of baryons containing two or three heavy quarks from statistical coalescence. This production mechanism is peculiar of Quark Gluon Plasma and the predicted rates, in heavy ion collisions at LHC energy, should exceed those from a purely hadronic scenario, particularly for Ξbc and Ωccc. Thus, besides the interes...

Bottom production cross section from double muonic decays of b - flavoured hadrons in 920 GeV proton - nucleus collisions

The bb̄ production cross section in 920 GeV proton-nucleus fixed target collisions is measured by observing double muonic decays of b-flavoured hadrons in the kinematic region −0.3 < xF(μ) < 0.15. A total number of 76 ± 12 bb̄ events is obtained with a likelihood fit of the signal and background simulated events to the data. The resulting cross section is σbb̄ = 16.2 ± 2.5stat ± 2.8sys nb/nucleon,...

Heavy B Hadrons

The CDF and DØ experiments have successfully collected data since start of the Run II at the Tevatron Collider in 2001. The large B-meson production cross-section and the possibility to produce all kind of B hadron states, opened to the two collaborations the possibility to study with high precision the tiny effects of CP-violation in the Heavy B hadrons system, and to search for new physics ef...

Heavy quark production: recent developments

I discuss some aspects of the comparison between QCD predictions and experimental data in charm and bottom production. Experimental information on the production of heavy-flavoured hadrons is impressive. Charmed hadron production has been studied extensively in fixed-target experiments, while colliders have provided a detailed picture of the productions of b-flavoured hadrons. Many aspects of t...
